Students at Bukedea Comprehensive School used their prom celebration to express appreciation for former Speaker Anita Among, cheering and asking Bukedea County MP David Okwere to invite her back as they prepared for their final examinations.

BUKEDEA — Excitement and celebration marked the annual prom party at Bukedea Comprehensive School as students gathered for an event aimed at motivating candidate classes ahead of their final examinations and transition to the next stage of education.

The function was attended by Bukedea County Member of Parliament David Bitcham Okwere, who served as chief guest and encouraged learners to remain focused on their studies while nurturing their talents and maintaining a balanced social life.

Addressing the students, Okwere described the prom party as an important occasion that reflects the school's commitment to recognizing and celebrating students' efforts and achievements.

"The purpose of organizing this event is to remind students that the school cares about them, loves them and wishes them success as they prepare for the next stage of their academic journey," he said.

The legislator urged the candidates to remain calm and concentrate on their studies, assuring them that the government remains committed to maintaining peace and a conducive learning environment.

"Study at peace. No one is going to disturb your peace. Focus on achieving excellent results because Bukedea has consistently produced some of the best-performing schools in Uganda," he said.

Okwere also advised students to strike a balance between academics and social life, warning against excessive focus on either. He encouraged learners to identify and develop their talents alongside classroom education.

"The world today rewards creativity and talent. Whether it is sports, music, arts or innovation, your talent can take you far if you develop it alongside your education," he said.

He further challenged the students to work hard for the development of Teso and Uganda, noting that the peace and stability enjoyed in the country should be used to pursue education and personal growth.

The highlight of the event came when students enthusiastically responded to Okwere's address, with many chanting and calling on the MP to invite former Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among back to the school.

"We miss her," some of the students shouted, prompting laughter and excitement among their colleagues.

School administrators said the prom party was organized to boost candidates' morale, celebrate their educational journey and inspire them to excel in their forthcoming examinations.

The colorful event featured entertainment, interaction sessions and messages of encouragement from teachers and leaders, leaving students energized and motivated as they prepare for their final exams.
